Hello, my name is Janet Moo Tein Ni. I am a Dance Movement Psychotherapist, lecturer, researcher, and specialist dance teacher.  This page includes my credentials and work experience.

Work:

1. Dance Movement Psychotherapy

In 2010, I pioneered Dance Movement Therapy in Malaysia, providing therapy to children with autism and/or learning disabilities at an early intervention centre briefly, before being awarded the CIMB Regional Scholarship 2010 to pursue further training in the UK.

In 2014, as part of CIMB Investment Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, I provided therapy to children at the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and delivered teacher training to NASOM teachers.

From 2017-2019, I provided Dance Movement Psychotherapy services to children and adolescents with special needs at We Rock The Spectrum and The Learning Connection.

In London, over 2011-2023, some of the organisations I have worked with to provide Dance Movement Psychotherapy are:  the Jan Malinowski Day Centre for people with learning disabilities in Merton, Elfrida Primary School in Lewisham, Hackney Community College in Hackney, St. Vincent’s Family Project in Westminster, and Marjory Kinnon School in Hounslow.

2. Dance teaching 

In Malaysia, from 2005-2009, I taught street dance to children at the Acts Performing Arts Academy in Desa Sri Hartamas.

In London, from 2011-2023, I delivered specialist dance teaching Special Educational Needs and Disabilities schools such as Sybil Elgar School (National Autistic Society) in Southall, Perseid Primary School in Merton, and Marjory Kinnon School in Hounslow. I also pioneered the inclusive dance programme at London PE & School Sport Network in Southwark.

In 2013, I also taught dance and held holiday workshops through my company, Creative Movements Wandsworth.

In Malaysia, in 2019, I worked with students of Permata Seni Tari.

3. Teaching assistance

In London, from 2011-2016, I provided teaching assistance at mainstream schools such as Limetree Primary School in Kingston and Barlby Primary School in Kensington, alongside special needs schools and colleges such as Spa Secondary School in Southwark and Orchard Hill College in Surrey.

4. Lecturing

In Malaysia, from 2017-2019, I lectured in psychology at Upper Iowa University, Kingsley International School, and Fairview International School.

In Hong Kong, from 2020-2021, as part of my PhD, I tutored undergraduate students and received an award for this.
